OFF-WORLD NEWS DIGEST | VOL. IX, No. 4

Welcome to another edition of the OFF-WORLD NEWS Digest.

In the news ...

  • Library loaner book, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, was almost thrown away. But the 'Friends of the Memphis Public Library' made the "sale of the decade" instead. | You never know what you'll find in a bin of old books. In the case of the Friends of the Memphis Public Library, you might just find a book worth $1,250. That's how much the organization made off a 1968 first-edition of a science-fiction book called "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick.  More HERE.

  • The Wall Will Tell You: The Forensics of Screenwriting, by Hampton Fancher | A completely original guide to the screenwriter's art -- as only the writer of Blade Runner could conceive.
The master speaks, in this unique guide for screenwriters -- and writers and artists of all kinds.
In short paragraphs--oracular and enigmatic, hardhitting and concrete--the man Forbes called a "creative genius" writes a guide book like none other for the aspiring screenwriter. Learn how to write living, breathing characters, exciting action and plot, and develop your own artistic vision. And learn how to never compromise that vision, most importantly, with yourself. More HERE.

Word Bookstores presents: Hampton Fancher Wednesday, March 13, 2019, @ 7:30 PM. Discussion and Q and A. Brooklyn, NY · 718-383-0096

Music:

Taking inspiration from the futuristic aural world of Ridley Scott's 1982 film "Blade Runner", composer and sound designer Gavin Salkeld has created a seamless sixty-minute suite of original music and sound effects that immerse the listener in the world of "Blade Runner". Featuring compositions inspired both by key scenes in the film and the film's original score by Vangelis, DANGEROUS DAYS is a bold and hypnotic experience.
