- Speaking recently on Variety's “Playback” podcast, Blade Runner 2049's director, Denis Villeneuve, called the sequel to Ridley Scott’s revered 1982 original the riskiest project of his career.
“I feel [the pressure] every day,” Villeneuve says. “At the same time, I’ve never been that inspired and excited. I love risk. All of my projects have come with a certain amount of artistic risk, or sometimes a risk of how you portray reality."

- Blade Runner enthusiasts have been waiting, and debating, over the sequel, Blade Runner 2049, ever since it was first announced back in 2011. The first Blade Runner 2049 trailer debuted a few months ago, and photos released two months ago -- which has certainly helped raise anticipation to an all-time high. Lennie James, an actor cast to be in the sequel, explains how secretive the production really was, even surpassing the secrecy of The Walking Dead.
"They offered me the job. It came out of the blue and I said, 'I need to read the script.' They sent me 20 pages before my character arrived and 20 pages after my character was gone. It was on an app thing that I could only open on one device. I couldn't take a screenshot, I couldn't take a photograph, I couldn't save it. They said, 'You've got 36 hours.' I had 36 hours with it and then it was gone. Then I had to make a decision to do it. When I did [decide to do it], they sent me the whole script."
